WhereCampTampaBay is a volunteer-based unconference for hackers, mappers, developers, open source advocates — anyone that wants to get together and talk maps and technology. This event will bring together enthusiasts for two days of in-depth discussion about various topics and issues about the geospatial industry.

We’re holding an Ignite Spatial event on Friday, February 10th, followed by an Unconference on Saturday, February 11th. Both events are free and active participation in both is encouraged!

Ignite

Ignite talks are fast-paced, 5 minute talks with 20 self-advancing slides. The Ignite mantra sums it up nicely: “Enlighten us, but make it quick!”

They’re a blast to watch, and give everyone an interesting new way to bring out their ideas. No boring death-by-PowerPoint, but captivating ideas and projects presented in rapid succession. We’re doing an “Ignite Spatial”, themed around location-based applications, maps, data — anything that can be considered “spatial”. Submit your talk and get your idea or project out there!

Unconf

The unconference is a “user-generated” conference, not a boring business-ey gathering with boring seminars. In the morning the attendees will gather and decide on the topics of discussion for the day, so rather than having a prescribed agenda, everyone decides what interests them and suggests the day’s sessions.
